Failure-does this mean that I have to replace the mobo or the Ram?
Thanks, Gayle

Sounds like your RAM is either not fully seated or has "kicked the bucket" /forum/frown.gif

MtnSnow, thanks for replying. I have 4 banks of 32 mgs each. Is it necessary to replace all or just find the one that's dead & replace it?
Thanks Again,
Gayle

ok this is what you do you have 4 banks they should be numbered 1,2,3,4,. bank 1,2 go togather 3,4 go togather reseat all the chips and try that if that does not work take the chips out of banks 3,and,4 try that if that does not work change the chips you took out of banks 3,4 for the ones in banks 1,2 if that still does not work try the same thing with banks 3,4 just move the mem from 1,2 to 3,4 try it if no go the switch chips. then try mixing the chips and doing the same thing all over if it still does not work your mobo is probably gone but befor I went out and bought a new one call around to some local computer stores and see if one of them can check the memery chips for you if they all check out ok then it is your board and it's time for a new one
hope you got all that /forum/smile.gif

I would try them 1 at a time and see which one is giving you the problems /forum/smile.gif

Just a little bit of advice from past experience. If you are shifting SIMM RAM modules around in different slots, be very carefully not to damage any pins. While trying to test for a faulty RAM SIMM once, I managed to fry a motherboard!!! /forum/frown.gif I wouldn't want you to make the same mistake!!!
