hey its me back with a nother question about that 486@133 i was going to use for a network my original question (bad or missing command interpreter) is still on the board if you havent tuned in yet.
I took the harddrive out and put it in my p166 and formated it and loaded win98 on it and then put it back in the 486 and it worked fine it recognized the new hardware and everything was ok.
Well for s***s and grins I decided to try to format it agian in the 486 and it worked but when i stuck in the startup disk and it tryed to reed it I got computer gibberish agian.but yet it would read the original win3.1 disk just fine come to find out in the bios there is a selection for high or low system speed .when I go to low sys speed it reeds the win98 disk just fine, so I was like ...cool. I typed setup and every thing was working but I did notice win it was doing a sys test it said (error pci read failure) and then it went on as it should .
It ended up taking six hours before winsetup got to the second to last stage which is the restart. The computer restarted like it should and then I got a insert system disk as if nothing ever happened.
Most of you guys are still way over my head but I still thought some one might find this intresting.
SO ANY IDEAS ON WHATS GOING ON HERE?
