My system keeps disconnecting from my provider about every 10 to 15 min. I currently have a Diamond Supramax 56k on a 433 cel, bh6 mobo,64meg ram. I have overclocked to 542 mhz with 83mhz bus. I even brought the bus down to 75 mhz with no luck. I need help....

have you tried any thing else?
If not try these:
Go into your network settings and open up your TCP/IP Dial up Adaptor properties. Click Wins Config on top then select Disable. then click ok.
Make sure Client for microsoft networks is installed (if not then install it)
Click ok, it should ask you to reboot. When it comes back give it a try. If it does not work continue...
Open up modems in your control pannel, select the modem then go to properties. Set the Maximum connect speed to 57600, if already there set to 38400. Then Click ok then close.
Open up dial up networking then right click on your connection then click properties. Click configure on the bottom then set the maximum connect speed to 57600 if already there set it to 38400.
You really don't want to go any less than 38400, less than that you will start to notice a preformance hit.
if that doesn't work go to www.56k.com (http://www.56k.com) and search the message board for your modem, i bet others have had the same problem you do, see what was suggested to them.
If your ISP supports Kflex and V.90 you can try to disable kflex using an Init string. I don't know the init for that modem sorry (try the url above or look in your manual). It has worked for many other types of modems i have used.
If all else fails try running a line test and see if your line is ok.
Hope this helps,

You can also get a string setting on 56k.com that will lengthen the idel time. I think for usr modems its s=60 to make ti 60 seconds...dont quote me on that /forum/smile.gif However, i know if its a PCI modem and you have a bunch of windows open..then that could be the problem..the modem isnt getting enough juice from the CPU (yeah..it can happen).

Are you sure it is your system or could it be your provider. I had the same problem with my computer but after talking with a few friends that were having the problem we found out we were usin the same provider. So I changed and no more problems I hope this helps Butchk
