Right now my sound card isn't showing up on any program that wants to use sound. I do get SOME sound out of it. In the volume control it shows that the wav part is in lighter green and it is a contsant light green. I thought that the sound card might be getting some crossover from something so I uninstalled it removed all the plugs from it put it in a different slot reinstalled it still no luck. Tried D/Ling new direct x 7.0 no luck (But needed it anyway)now starting to think one of 2 things.
1. Reformate and start over.
2. Get a new sound card.
Niether one I want to do right now.
TIA,

You posted this before, right? No bites, huh? Nobody wants to touch this one for some reason...
I really don't have a solution, BC. Just moving the post temporarily up top.
Is the AWE64 a Plug-n-Play ISA card?
In the system Bios, there may be an option to flush out the PnP ISA and PCI info for all cards. The ESCD update option (if available) will clear Bios assignments for the IRQ, DMA, I/O and memory configurations of all your cards. On reboot it'll reassign everything.
I don't know how Windows will react to this. It may redetect the cards all over again but as additional cards. If you were to try this, I'd remove all the cards and their drivers in Device Manager first, to prevent possible conflicts...
This leads to my asking what Device Manager is reporting for the properties of this card in the first place. And what about System Information, what info is that reflecting for the DMA, IRQ and such? DirectX Diagnosis info?

Yes, what does your device manager say about IRQ's? How many devices are being shared by the IRQ your sound card is on.
I'm on a public library machine right now (out of town and all...) so I don't have access to the bios (or anything else for that matter! REAL bemmer, huh?) but under pnp, you can have windows assign the irq's or have the bios do it. As I heard Leo say on ZDtv, "your bios knows better where to put your devices than windows "thinks it does!" You might give a trty letting your bios assign the irq's, worst case scenerio would be it wouldn't be any better, but it can't get worse....
Just adjust settings in bios, remove the card, I'd say basically all of your pci's (except yourt video card if pci), via your device manager, then re-start your maching and see what happens. I did this once upon a time and all was well in river city.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Well see the funny thing is that it has been working fine before. I installed a new card in there to see if maybe it was the sound card. And it was a SB 16 pci and it works fine. Is it possible that the wav table or part of the card burnt up?

this is not much help to the problem at hand, but I have excatly the same problem with a P11 333intel system with a Yamaha card, wierd thing is when I put card in P11 300intel system it works fine, removed drivers reinstalled still not working on P11 333sys, will try format and complete reinstall, if it works I'll let you know.
