This is kinda broad ranged, so I apologize up front if it's a bit OOC.
I installed Direct X 7 recently. I ran the Direct X diagnostics and was unpleasantly suprised to find out that my Diamond Monster Fusion AGP is not supported in AGP mode.
My current mobo is an MS-6119 (AGPx1) and I've flashed the Fusion with the newest BIOS from Diamond as well as the mobo with the newest BIOS from MicroStar.
I've searched extensively for any jumpers I could be missing and hav only one lead. In the review of the board on WWW.sharkyextreme.com, (http://WWW.sharkyextreme.com,) they mention a jumper for AGP speed depending on your FSB speed.
My question (finally) is this:
Can anyone help me find this jumper? ...and does anyone know of anything else it could be?
Your help is GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
Erik Doyle
I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP with DirectX 7, and I don't get AGP support either. Guess it's got something to do with the drivers.

Direct X7 Must still have too many bugs I have a Matrox Mystic G200 with 16+ Meg of video and had all kinds of problems when I tried to use Direct X7 so I just wnet back to Direct X 6.x that I was using. I have heard of alot of different AGP video cards having problems with Direct X7.
Good luck.

Maybe I'm not understanding correctly- does your card work at all w/ dx7? I know that v3's do not support agp features- the pci and agp versions are virtually the same. I'd assume that the fusion would be the same, but I can't say for sure.
If it's working still, that would be why. It's not that there's anything wrong with the card, just that the fusion won't use agp features.

A Video card can be configured to physically fit into an AGP slot but still actually just run as a PCI card. I do not know your card speciffically, but 3dfx do do this.
Good luck.

Is that card basically a Banshee?? If it is it will not have AGP support even if it fits & runs in the AGP slot.

Try enabling USB in bios, you need that to enable the agp on some cards.

The Diamond Monster Fusion is NOT an AGP card.
That will be your problem.
3DFX are actually quite backward when it comes to such things. They have just made it so it fits in an AGP slot.

I missed an earlier discussion involving the uninstall of DirectX 7. How does one do this?
Since installing it, my Mystique G200 apparently just goes to a black screen output periodically. It only happens rarely and it's very brief, but it is an attention getter. /forum/smile.gif

Thank you, I may give that a try.

Krusty,
The box says AGP, the card says AGP in Win98 and thedrivers are for the AGP version of the Fusion...not only that, but there are two seperate BIOS flashes for the PCI version and the AGP version of the card.
Thanks for the advice, but next time...try to know what you're talking about!

ArcusStorm,
He knows what he is talking about, he just wasn't very specific.. the card is AGP, but doesn't use the advanced features of AGP (this is what the DirectX 7 option means), such as the 2x mode.. I also don't believe it uses the sys memory as a way to store textures, either. So the card acts just as a PCI version of it would.

Well, at least there is something good I can say about my $49 Savage4/16MB AGP card - Directx7 says it's totally cool and working like a good little AGP card should.

Did I understand you correctly? My Voodoo 3 2000 AGP card isnt really a true AGP card but a pci in disguise? That ticks me off. Is the 3500 the same way?

Hmmm... I don't get it...when I used to have direct X 6.1, I never noticed anything...now I got DX7 and poof my card isn't AGP anymore? I understand software can't make my vid adapt do things that aren't physically possible, but my mobo is AGPx1 and so is this card...I'd more likely believe DX7 isn't all it's cracked up to be...as a test I'm gonna install a diff card and see what happens..I'll post my findings..and all the details...
Thanks again all...for the help

Nope, the simple fact remains that your card is an AGP compatible card, but doesn't use the extra features of the slot, and I believe 1x is the same speed as a PCI slot.

Wrong! EVEN at 1X AGP is 66MHZ NOT 33mhz(pci).
