PPP is an IP most likely the one you use to connect to the Inet. Before that there was SLIP Both are serial connections, phoneline to server. PPP (Point to Point Protocol) has support for better security *passwd ect... There's also PPTP (Tunneling) that's used for a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection.
