Hey all,

Happy New Year to everyone.

I need help figuring out how to play mp COD 2 with my son. We both have the game installed and can each play single player and multiplayer simultaneously...however we cannot join the same server. The first player will be able to sign on but the second player will get a waiting for connection message that does not go away.

We are running a wired network that gets a Verizon DSL feed. The feed goes into the modem and the modem goes to a Netgear WGR614.v4 54 Mbps router. We've never shared printers just an internet connection. This router has worked flawlessly providing an internet connection to both of us.

I figured this had to be some kind of port issue. I don't have anyother networking experience beyond using this netgear as an internet connection. Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem. Netgear support is useless.

Thanks all
:)

this is most likely caused because you're using the same CD KEY. You'll need to purchase another copy of COD2, and then re-install using the new cd key.

He said that it just hangs up on the Connecting screen. If it were the problem with cd-keys, it would of said invalid key.

I hear you ...good call on the cd key...but that's not the case...its two separate sets of COD2, each with their own CD key..

Anyone else??

do you have any port forwarding setup on your router? If you have forwarded all traffic for that game to a specific pc your other one won't allow it. Also try this link

Thanks for the tips...With these and a little bit more research on my part I fixed us up...solution? Going into the firmware and enable port 28960 for COD2
