BIOS says 131 Meg RAM Windows says 112 Meg.... within >>>

I know why the bios says 131. But why would Windows say 112? Where does/did it go?

Does your board have integrated video? if so, the video card may have sucked up some of it (allocating it for video usage)

Jim, better recalculate what bios is telling you. Where in Windows are reading the amount of memory that you are reporting? General Properties?

Yes that is what the bios is saying. 131072 Kb.

Yeah I noticed it when i right click My Computer, Properties, Performance. Does it have to do with the virtual mem and all that too?

The BIOS calculates memory like the old dos ie. 1024k = 1Mb but Windows rounds it down to 1000k = 1Mb

No, the number you see there SHOULD accurately reflect your installed memory. I believe the number you are reporting from dos is 128MB.
As to why windows isn't seeing the full amount of installed memory, I'm at a loss. Have you by any chance checked with another program such as Norton or SiSoft Sandra to see what it reports for memory?
One more question (and I've no experience with this type of board), does your video come from integrated graphics on the mainboard? Would it happen to share system memory?

i have 128 pc100 sdram in my comp and bios says i have 131-something of memory.i do happen to have on-board video and so window says 120, sandra says the same thing. try going to system tools >> system monitor and add some of the memory monitors and see what that says......
you could also try finding winsystem98 (if you have win 98) and see what it says your memory usage is...
