I cannot get my upgraded MB (BH6) to recognise the tired old CDROM I took from the old box. (4x Matsu****a Model CR-562-B manufactured Oct 1994)

There is a jumper on the back noted as being "ID" with the options 0,1,2,3,4. I've tried the jumper in 0 & 1 with no effect

HELP!.....please.....

Mith,

With out doing any research on the drive in question and going only on what you said There is a jumper on the back noted as being "ID" with the options 0,1,2,3,4. I've tried the jumper in 0 & 1 with no effect Would lead me to believe you have a SCSI cdrom rather than a IDE one as with IDE drives you usually only get options of MASTER, SLAVE or CABLE SELECT. I will try and find a difinitive answer for you shortly.

Mith,

Back and it looks like it IS a type of "ide" Supported Proprietary Interface CD-ROM drives:
CR-521/522/523 (1x speed, caddy loading type CD-ROM)
CR-562/563 (2x speed, tray loading type CD-ROM)

I found this information at www.panasonic.com/host/support/cdromreadme_e.html (http://www.panasonic.com/host/support/cdromreadme_e.html)
and this ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/OEM-CDROM/56X_95.EXE (http://ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/OEM-CDROM/56X_95.EXE) is the Win9x drivers for the interface card.

Are you using the correct interface card? have you downloaded the correct drivers to use with the interface card? If not use the link I provided above to get the drivers for the card that would have come with that CD origanally.

Hope this helps

What a coincidence...I am trying to reisntall win on an old 486 PC. The CDROM is a CR 563-b and is hooked up to a Reveal Sound card. I have used the drivers from various websites. And the driver is recognized, and I can switch to drive D but as soon as I type "dir" the following error appears: cdr101 cannot read drive
What is going on? I really need some help on this and please don't send me to a website with drivers b/c I have the real driver...
Also, it seemed to work under Win 95
