I just ordered x64 yesterday and will be here tomorrow. I am glad to hear software vendors (especially game vendors) are jumping on board the 64 bit bandwagon. Rabbitrunner51 12-23-2005, 03:47 AM Thats interesting... esp. sinced I plan on getting a AMD 64 bit porcessor real soon and also since HL2 is one of my most favorite games I have played ever.... As a matter of fact i like it so much I am replaying it for the fifth time right now..in between other things.. and still love it the same each time I play it. Now.. I take it you two gentlemen have AMD processors..?? I am wondering just what kind of gains I will get when I switch to a AMD 64 3700+ over my P4 2.8GHz ?? The latest HDL patch looks terrific ..but as expected.. I get some casual freezing and stoppages.. ( probably more to do with the Video Card ) although the game plays fine and looks real good for the most part. Another question I have is... what true advantage will having a 64 bit OS have in gaming....??? and or this porcessor?? LOL kpm547 12-23-2005, 10:17 AM Do you need Windows64 to make use of the 64 bit game? Bigjakkstaffa 12-23-2005, 10:53 AM It seems so I was considering gettign hol dof x64 and Dual booting for games with x64 binaries, but it doesnt seem worth the hassle. Might just wait and see how things pan out with Vista --Jakk:t Rob R. 12-23-2005, 02:36 PM After I am done making the switch to x64, I will let you guys know how it feels when playing DoD:S or CS:S. Jakk, It looks like Vista is going to be a mess. Just type "Vista DRM" in a search engine and see what you get. I consider x64 to be the last OS from Microsoft that will be useable and thats why I am making the jump to it. I will never ever ever mess with Windows Vista. Rabbitrunner51 12-23-2005, 09:50 PM Microsoft as a company come across as always needing to try and make perfection and that being.. it takes them foever to finally release any OS's... makes sense really..but with drivers for 64bit ...Vista and integrations and bug fixes....I think it will all come about sooner or later. Making the switch to Vista might be better for whomever likes the style and addons for what they do.. but I agree...not for awhile now for me..and since it is delayed again and again..much longer still..
