Hello, I am new to this part of the forum and I feel positvely ancient

Access Links Golf some years ago was assimilated by the borg (Microsoft)
It was a really good game and I had followed it from its early beginnings until 2000. It disappeared I think after 2003 There were very few improvements by the new owners.
The LS 2000 was limited, there are only six showing on the menu. I haven't looked at it for quite a while, but my grandsons are here for the week and I was going to let them play the game. I had a look at the first disk of three. There are around 20 courses shown there with the file name .crx. These were all of the courses that I used to have in Links 386. It says that you can transfer 386 courses but these won't come up off the LS 2000 installation disk . I just know that there will be someone smart enough out there to help me.
Thanks John

If you get those and fine the source John..let me know because that is the only current golf game I have installed myself..... Nice game altough a bit simple it ofers a great golf game with its style and graphics...

The game comes with about six courses I beleive .. Mauna kea.., Hapuno, Covered Bridge.., and the three St Andrews courses.... but I would love to get ahold of any add ons if avail.

I'm sure Microsoft would know where to get these if you wrote to them... good luck.

Thanks Rabbit, If you explore first disk of LS200 (There are three) you will see that there are around twenty or so other courses there. The course manager window says that you can use Links386 courses and I suspect that these are they,as I did have Links 386 (and all of them at one time) . They are labeled .crx but I can't open them. I was hoping for a technical way of doing this. I also posted this on the Tech forum . I agree it is the best golf game Thanks John

I believe there was a utility to convert them. There was some bs about having to prove that you owned them though (will have to do some research cuz it was a looooong time ago). Don't worry Station, I'm old too! ;)

Hello thxmanu,
I don't know if you are thanking Manchester United?. Good on you if you are. They're Grrreat. :O) I thx you too. I did own all of these courses at one time but time has passed and the only one I do have is Links LS 2000 It is still a good game. Pebble Beach and Harbor Town were really good ones. Although I am a transplanted Scot I find the New course at St Andrews isn't very good within the game Thank you for answering , John

I might spend some myself and get an answer for you tonight... I am going to open my game and also write to MS and see what they say... Also.. I don't always do this..but reading the game info and readme file might give some clues... LOL and Merry Christmas..gents..

Hello again Rabbit,
I answered your last post, last night, However the borg must have "et it" :O) I don't see it here??

I went to Amazon where there were three Links Classics with added courses advertized. Like I really need them :O) . The grandsons will go home tomorrow (however there are more coming.) :O)

You know how it is / If you don't have it You really need it :O) I ordered one and went through all of the submissions to pay and they said that they couldn't deliver ?? To Canada maybe?
I hope that you found something out from MS
Thanks John

Yeah.. i went to Microsofts site and I did alot of searching and mostly I just got the same links over and over....they all led back to the Microsoft/Games site... The listing for games shows only the Links LS2000 as oneof the choices..so i went there and againonly found old news and another link..butnothing about where to get the addon courses.

Most of the links referred to the Links 2001 and add on pack 2..ect...

Since its been so long ago for this game... upon release...Microsoft has little on the game...or where to find vendors to buy them. One source that is maybe the best is to try EBay. I bet someone there has them.... in Canada ...I can't guess.

The box have that came with the game..states openly about all the add on courses...but only refers to the Microsoft site. Like I said...if you write to them and ask about your problem..just maybe a clue can be had there...

I buy alot of gmes mostly at Amazon myself.. but maybe tyhey don't ship to Canada.

Are there any computer retailers in your area??? Ask them about howto get these.

Good Luck! LOL

Thanks Rabbit for your trying to help. It isn't that important now since the lads will be going home tomorrow. I am fortunate to be able play on one real course all summer. We have six to play on this, if we need them:O) :O) I will keep an eye open in the stores and perhaps at garage sales. I saw one last year and didn't even think of taking it, as I thought there were other courses resident on this disc. It is a good game and should have been kept by Access. (I tried the Tiger Wods one and didn't like it). As I think of it, must be at least 8 or ten years since its inception. In computer time that is long. When you get as old as I it goes by in a wink. :O) Thanks a lot, John
