will be swapping out my 9600xt 128 for a x700 pro 256 in the next day or two. Will someone double check me here.....remove xt under device mgr......remove whatever software might be associated with it thru add/rem programs.....turn off puter.....remove/install cards ....when asked insert driver CD......install latest catalyst drivers...play CoD with better fps. TIA!

you are still using the latest radeon drivers, so you could probably get away with just swapping the cards. if you were switching between ati and nvidia, then you would definitely want to do a full cleaning.

normally, you would uninstall the radeon software/drivers, boot to safe mode, run driver cleaner, then install the latest drivers for your new card.

I never use the driver cd that comes with a card. they are always out of date. download the latest catalysts instead.

TFR Midnyte, just didn't want to be faced with a blank screen upon boot up. I just d/l 5.13 catalyst as I was using 5.11 so I will have that ready to install. I plan on using the old card to put together a little back up machine or something. Good to know I don't really need to use the driver cleaner as I had looked into that link you posted already thinking it might answer my question. Not really a noob but I know to check the stickies b4 asking any quesiton. lol
