Is it possible to have XP and Me both on one pc? Have gone through both installations, Me first, but XP just overrides Me completely with no options that I remember seeing. HELP! I dont mind ressetting everything on this pc, just tell me HOW lol.

You need to have more than one partition or more than one hard drive.

How to Multiple Boot Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, and MS-DOS (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q217/2/10.ASP)

Even tho everyone hated WinME it worked great for my kids but man, I went to XP and couldn't find drivers for most of the components that worked just fine under ME - be careful and make sure you won't run into problems there - otherwise could be a problem or cost you some money :)

1st thing to do is put thye XP cd in computer & have bios set to 1st boot as CD
boot to XP/erase all partitions & create 2 new partitions - both fat 32
tell the computer you want to install XP & select go...BUT as soon as it gets done doing the initiall format kill the computer power
I then put in the win 98/me cd & boot to that
it should just install ME/98 on the C: drive & D will be just spare
Once ME is completely loaded reboot w/ the XP cd
install XP on the D: drive this time - I like NTFS
not too complicated. :)

thanks guys, tried ckings way but found it very hard. Especially the partition and formatting with an XP cd, probably just because its the home version or something. Found the partition thing invaluable though, downloaded a new fdisk which enabled me to create more than one partition and formatted (very :( !) slowly with a booted Me cd. Installed Me first and then XP on a different partition, bingo it worked. Only down side is nforce 3 doesnt support Me in IDE drivers, but thats fine as the 'child' drivers (with exclamation marks next to them in DeviceMan) dont seem to slow it down much if at all. 3dmark for my Me OS is 10% slower than the XP, but all tests ran without hitch. NTFS was a BIG no-no though, when I tried with the XP I lost the multi-boot (and with it the Me installation) :(
Thanks guys, I will be doing this on other family systems soon.

Before doing any changes to the other computers be sure and backup everything of importance, a backup on a CD would be good.
Good Luck :)
