I'd usually be travelling to Melbourne to spend it with the family, but I'm not sure what I'll be doing this year.
Probably spending it at home with a couple of friends and lots of alcohol.
Forgot to add an option "I don't celebrate Crimbo, let alone Christmas".

regretfully I'll be forced into being with family, rather just sit alone at home

I'll spend the biggest part of the day at home. I will take my wife to her sister's house for awhile but I like home more than anyplace else.
If the wife could drive (she can't because of disability) I would stay home.

The more I think about the more likely its gonna be that I'll just spend the day alone. Well alone with my computer you guys anyway :)
Christmas just isn't the same as it used to be, and while that might just be an indication for my growing contempt for things religious (well the organized religions anyway) its also just the sheer ammount of comercialisation that has spoilt things.
I was speaking to a German exchange student at a client's home a few weeks ago and he was staggered by all the comercialisation and crud compared to 'back home'.
Hes got a very good point.

Mid-night mass on the eve and the whole shebang here at my home on Christmas morning. Gonna do breakfast pies, eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy. The presents are for the kids, I just got mine today. Our priest is also coming by after he finishes up.
Have to remember that there is a reason for this season, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu etc.. Whether you belive in God or not, it is a time to be with those special to you. When I was in university I spend 7 out of 9 seasons away from my family. My room-mate and myself had a bestards holiday dinner each year. Reason being is that many of our fellow classmates were not of a faith to celebrate x-mas or like us were stuck in the books, trying to get our work done, specially towards the end on our thesis.
Can't tell you how much fun we had and how important those memories are to me now. Many of those old classmates and I still get together today, whether they come by, or by phone, from India, Tokyo, Palistine or Beirut or where ever.
Yes it has been commercialized, but it is what you make it. For me, it is special time with family and close friends, and a chance to appreciate them, and in my case, give thanks for them.

Every Christmas I go thru the same ritual. All the original star wars IV-VI. This time I get to go I-VI.
And of course Chinese food (only place ever open).
