Hey all. Here's one I have never seen a post on before. I am running Windows 98 SE and dual booting with Windows 2000 RC2 (very nice by the way, I cant wait for M$ to send the RC3 to my company!).
I use a Connectix QuickCam VC to chat with my girlfriend who lives a few states away right now. Things were working fine until one day....
I use Netmeeting and Intel's Video phone software. All of the sudden, one day I couldnt connect to her computer. We are both in the database and the software knows we are logged in..but we cannt connect.
So I whipped out the MS handy tracert and tested her IP. The hops never even leave my machine and time out until all 30 hops are done. I then had her tracert to my IP. It goes all the way through until it reaches my IP and says destination unreachable and times out when trying to send to my computer.
I thought maybe it was my TCP/IP stack, so I deleted all networking stuff and reinstall it and the DialIp adapter, even uninstalled and reinstalled Netmeeting 3.01 and Intel's Video phone. STILL nothing. same result on the tracert...all Stars * * *...
I boot into windows 2000 and its fine. however, there is no supported/approved driver that will work with the phone in RC2 of Win2k..so that does me no good. This problem of course also affects ICQ for us as well.
Any ideas of solutions? Anyone know WHICH files I can delete from windows that have any regard to the TCP/IP stack? I have tried reinstalling windows and it didnt work. So I want to remove those files and reinstall windows to get fresh ones.
THANKS!

My only reason for duplocating it is because I know not everyone reads all the forums. for instance, I don't read the "gaming" forum, but if someone in there had a question about some graphic cards issue within a game, they may not think to ask it in another forum. Likewise, I thought I would get a better chance asking in general tech support and also in the networking forum.

Paul, I understand your reasons, and your wanting answers. And you make valid points that not everyone (unfortunately) visits all the forums.

The reason why duplicate posting is discouraged is, it can be quite frustrating for someone to reply to a post, then see the same thread in another forum, perhaps already answered or not, but then that replier would also reply again, having to say that he/she had already replied to the other thread ... confusing. This makes it difficult for all parties concerned to follow what's happening.

And I do hope you get replies and/or work out a solution if you haven't already.

I hope everyone will try to make a point to start cruising by all the forums, not just one or some. You may be missing out on something interesting that you can use, or help with.

My reply here is for everyone's FYI, not to encourage a debate or response.

Please, no duplicates in the future. Thanks!

Hope you get a solution.
