battlefield crashes after person says welcome to duty

my battlefield crashes after the person in the beginning says welcome to duty. then my battlefield crashes, then sometimes shuts off. after that, i get an error saying, VPU RECOVER HAS RESET YOUR GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR AS IT WAS NO LONGER RESPONDING TO GRAPHICS DRIVER COMMANDS. sorry for caps, just typing what it said.

What kind of card do you have, and what do you have your settings at?

i have an ati radeon 9200 series (9250)
not sure what settings

First, update your drivers, or if you have recently done that, and now Battlefield doesn't work, roll them back. It sounds like a driver issue, so try that , and let us know what happens.

ok i just upgraded my driver abck to cat 5.11 it does the same thing except load slower. so i upgraded back to cat 5.12

You'll need to tell us more than just what you're doing with two versions of CAT drivers - BIOS, card, game settings?

I had that error with that card (always have to buy 4 video cards at a time when a new EA game comes out - the 9200 was a dicey proposition but they were cheaper) and I got that error on a Compaq - of course, and not on the other 2 I built myself. Drove me nuts.....

Took me 3 nights, don't remember, but I know I fiddled with AGP settings in BIOS and in ATI to run card at 4X, used an older driver, dumbed down game details and settings - don't remember what combo finally worked. Thought it was a lack of TSL support, but maybe that was the card that I ended up replacing.

My son said screw it - let's get another card and he was right, why bother if you're running a new game and not enjoying the graphics? But the kids tossed me some extra $$, and because the others were also new exchanged them - got a better ATI card for all and running newest games no issues.

Also have you installed the new 1.12 patch for battlefield that screwed up my computer. Although I got a different error that might be the problem with yours.
