I want to use two printers at the same time, without using a data switch. My PC has a bidirectional parallel port and I wish to add a new port. Can I use a legacy 8-bit ISA card? How can i install the board if Windows 95/98 does not detect it?
Thanks in advance.

Windows should see the added port just fine. Just make sure that your IRQ's for the card won't cause any conflicts.

You may also have to add the hardware in Windows if it does not detect it (Add New Hardware). From my personal experience the only add-on LPT ports that I've had Windows detect were PCI parallel ports.

These cards are true legacy and need a little special attention to set up right. First set jumper settings and , in your bios, reserve the irq for legacy (NON P&P)m operation. In win 98 run hardware setup. Don't get fooled if after the dust settles, the new card ends up as LPT1 and built in ends up as LPT2. Not sure why this happens but it usually does.
