I'm playing some avi's that have audio in WMP 10 and the audio is very quiet... What's mussed here?

Check the audio volume controls in Windows - especially the WAV slider.

WAV slider is maxed out. Whenever my AIM bleeps when I get a message I dang get my ears blown out while straining to hear the avi audio lol...

I've got the slider all the way up too... I couldn't find any advanced volume control in WMP.

Oh - AVIs. It depends on the person who made them - settings and codecs used. It's not your PC.
