Power Consumption...Power Outtage...UPS

I don't know if anyone been through this before, but i've had several times with Power outtages in my area, yet... funny thing, i kept on Playing my MMORPG or WC3 games without losing connection, all thanks to my dear UPS :-@

as i mentioned on other topics here i'm using this one

http://www.apcc.com/resource/images/products/046233D9-5056-9170-D3AC8292F4BFA746_f_v.jpg

and it's great, even under heavy load 2x 19" CRT + Router + Cable Modem + 500w computer + ??? anything else connected to it, it can last me for aprox 20min to 30min

so i was wondering... if switching my 2x 19" CRT for 2x 19" LCD will make any difference (or maybe 1 large 36+" or 42" LCD / Plasma screen with 2 VGA/SDI imput )

i'm talking about Power consumption, trying to get the most out of the UPS to play longer meanwhile the power is Out :D

the other problem is that there are still no LCD screen that are up to my standards yet, and Plasma screen are always too hot, and they die too soon due the heat. )-|

:p you could say that, it's quite funny when everything is pitch black and people see you playing a game online :D

wondering... how come he has power when every house is out :x

I agree; power outages are boreing so why not do a game?
My neighbors have gotton used to the lights comming on during a black out so its not as much fun as it used to be.
I constructed a higher capacity power sorce for lights etc. by setting up some batteries in parallel (packed in an ammo can). I mostly use it for camping though.
Additional play time can be gotten by adding another rechargeable battery in parallel with the UPS's battery, too many could harm the charging circuit, and it must be as close to the same battery type, capacity etc. as possible, to avoid damage, leakage or letting the magic blue smoke out of the UPS, so be careful.
Enjoy!

Edit. I am talking about the UPSs that are powered by a single 12v battery when I speak of raising the capacity. If the ups in question has 24 or more volts on the batt pack, you would need to construct a duplucate and this can be quite expensive (one 12 v 7ah = $20+, a 72 volt ups would requie 6 additional ones, for example)

Allgamer..ifi wasto get a new CRT or LCD those are the two I would choose...

Viewsonic make very excellent displays in either gender... i still use my old KDS 19"pureflat CRT monitor and while I would love to get one of those...this one still looks good and works prefect with no problems...

The first one (CRT ) , is the one I would like to have...and it sellsfor about what i paid for mine three ormore years ago... LOL
