I am still running my 6800GT and from the way things look I am going to be running it for another year. My card is a BFG, not that it really makes any diff.

When I bought this card it was at about the time the temp bug was showing it's ugly face and the only way to correct that and still use new drivers was to OC the 2D to 401-402 mhz. I did the OC in both 3D and 2D until the temp bug was fixed. I then went back to stock.

OK, now to the question. The 6800GT is aging a little and I am wanting to go ahead and run it at ultra which the card will do easily. I know some of you have been running at ultra the whole time and I am wondering if anybody has had any ill effects from it?

The card is kind of "old" for being less than a year old but I still don't want to kill it. I also know I am taking a chance but I am wondering if you know of anybody that has killed a 6800GT running it at ultra?

Seems to be running ok for me. I'm running a Gainward bios with a split voltage for 2D and 3D.

You definitely want to keep an eye on the temps. Maybe even upgrade to a VF700Cu or a NV5 cooler.

There is no guarantee that you won't kill the card. I know guys that ran cards stock that failed on them.

Yeah I figure I am taking a chance. I will say I am not too good to RMA it if it dies though. I paid extra for the BFG so...........

Tis a sad state of affairs that I would stoop so low ain't it? ;) That is why I won't change the cooler. That they can prove I did. :D

I had an XFX card, it took me just under two weeks to fry it, I had to RMA it back to newegg and got an MSI I run this one pretty high most of the time and never had any problems, but as Mid says you can still burn it out. just keep an eye on the temps and only run it high when your playing games. theres a pic below of my clock speeds.

I remember when your XFX died. That ain't surprising though, those cards are either very good, or very terrible.

Yeah, I only OC in 3D. I mean the memory is OC'd constantly but the core in 2D is the stock 370 BFG settings.

I'll watch the temps closely. I really would hate life if I killed this card.

Man CC, you have a killer OC there. I ain't even gonna try that.
