In another thread, The Unquirer said the 6800GS would be here this week.
I have not been able to find it as yet, no any reviews with bench marks?
Any one here had any luck yet?

Yea, but the only source I have seen on this is The Inquirer. No official word from NVIDIA (that I have seen), and no bench mark sites that have put up any ariicles on testing the card (when the PCI version came out there were review sites that had write ups on the card right before they became available).
BTW, this was not as much a complaint post, as it was just wondering if any one has seen reviews, or maybe seen the card for sale. I searched around, but that does not mean I could not have missed something.
Also, I just in the last week or so heard about The Inquirer. Other sites have linked to The Inquirer, but none have any other news then links or quotes to the same article. I kind of thought that was a little strange. I hope the article is correct, if not, I will get the GT model, or an x800xl.

I really don't understand why nvidia killed off the rest of the 6800 series. They left ATI with the whole mid-high end.
I know and understand about nvidia making board chipsets and wanting to sell boards but to stop making cards already in production basically because they came in AGP models is a bummer. You can still buy the whole line of nasty FX cards if you want one but nothing decent for AGP.
You know, this whole deal has made me even more determined to never buy another nforce board. After the nforce 2 boards I was already pretty PO'd at nvidia, then the nforce 3 was buggy as hell. I haven't had an nforce 4 and I doubt I ever will. I will most likely let ATI work on the crossfire for about a year and jump on one of them. Screw nvidia, they want it all and they ain't getting it from me.
I really like my 6800GT but IMO nvidia has been trying to force their new boards on people for about 1 1/2 years. If you don't buy their board, you don't upgrade.
That sucks.

Newegg had both the 6800nu and the 6800GT in AGP form in stock a couple days back.
I still have 2 gforce3 ti200 by Visiontek, and they have run great for years (one is in my wife's machine, and one is in my daughter's machine). However, the little chipset fans have gone bad from time to time, but Visiontek sends new fans when they go bad.
From the reviews of the PCI version of the 6800GS, the 6800gs PCI is very close to as good as the 6800GT, at very close to the price of the 6800 plain card (I am talking online prices). It seems, if the AGP card is as good as the PCI version, that NVIDIA will be selling a screamer for the price (close any way) of a lower end card.
That said, I like ATI also, I am running a 9500Pro now, and it has been a great card for years. I have been waiting for years to upgrade, and the 6800GS AGP is looking good to me.

Except the 5900 XT lol...
You mean production of the 6600-6800GT's was stopped?

The production of 6800 Ultra and GT was stopped. That leaves the 6600GT and the upcoming 6800GS as Nvidia's high end AGP.
The time has come I figure for AGP to die but you can still buy any ATI card at least back to the 9200. Nvidia is abandoning the market pretty much AGP wise. I guess it is a business decision and they kow more about what they are doing than I do.
I bought a BFG card and that means soon if it dies I will get a free upgrade, a 6800GS would not be acceptable.:D I figure they would have to give me a 7800GT.
Evil thoughts are lurking in my mind.

You have any links that state any thing about the 6800GS (other then links based on The Inquirer), that say NVIDIA is in fact going to put out the 6800GS in AGP. From what I can find, The Inquirer is the only source on this information.
BTW, my current post saying newegg had the 6800GT in stock (I just checked and they are all gone). Newegg had two different brand cards in stock in the 6800GT AGP form, and they sold out that fast (I think they arrived on the 5th).

If anything, Nvidia is converting their fabs to the newer core types. It costs money to support multiple core formats, so they are streamlining to product the newer 110nm and later 90nm cores. It's just progress.

Yeah they can't give you a lesser card as an upgrade... Overclock it 3x it's normal speed and have it fry and say it just went kablooey and get your 7800 GTX. :D :x :r

Reading my mind ain't fair.
I'll wait until I am sure they ain't got no more 6800GT AGP cards and OC it to pieces. :x
I won't realy do that, but man it is an idea.

LOL! Also you'd have to make sure they'd really let you have a 7800 GT as a replacement and not give you a 6800 GS instead. That'd really stink if you blew up your 6800 GT and they told you they'd only give a 6800 GS.

LOL, the warranty policy states that if they no longer make the card you lost, they upgrade you, not downgrade you. You are right, it would suck and suck bad.:D
I am not going to worry about keeping up anymore. I have resigned to the fact that it just isn't worth it, not at all.:(

Yeah lol... I bought my 5900 XT from AOpen and shipped it back for replacement right when the line was canceled lol. I had to call the place I ordered it from to find out what was going on. I wish AOpen could've upgraded me... Though I didn't go through AOpen to RMA but instead I went through the store I ordered it from. But hey my Gainward 5900 GS isn't too bad, but it just goes to show you though, what you buy today may be obsolete tomorrow... (or while you sit down for dinner lol.)

a 6800GS benches higher than a 6800GT, so I wouldn't mind getting one in exchange.

I've had a Evga 6800GT AGP card for about 6 months and love it. Upgraded from the FX 5200 man -what a difference.
Anyhow...recently I downloaded the coolbits registry tweak and have OC'ed the card to 413/1100. Before doing that I also installed an Arctic silencer NV5 cooler Revision 2.
When I went to OC I got a message that said this process voids the warranty--you guys are talkiing about OC'ing and then turning it in for a card that isn't damaged...what gives...I wondered when I saw that how the mfg would know it was oc'ed anyhow....does the chip record this information somehow..
Oh ...and in another forum someone said adding the aftermarket cooler on there also voided the warranty. I've got some reading to do I guess but what's your consensus on that?

aftermarket cooling will void the warranty. you are modifying the card out of normal spec.
there isn't anything recorded in the chip about an OC. just don't mention an OC when doing an RMA.
The 6800GS is on par with a GT at stock speeds, but the core OCs like a bat out of hell. guys are easily passing 500MHz on the core. Look at the reviews on hothardware and techreport.

Wow, maybe the GS wouldn't be a bad thing on an RMA. I guess when you get used to counting pipelines vs speed you can kind of get into a "locked" mindset.
All in all, it kind of looks like the field is pretty even considering the clocks the GS can do.
My mouth isn't watering for one though, I already have the GT. If I were to drop into about ohhhh $650 I wasn't doing anything with I might buy a board and a GTX.;)
The problem is, in 6 months I would just want a better card. The cycle never ends does it?
