ok i bought a asus 6800xt card and it says that its running at 300 and mem at 700. what would be a safe bet in overclocking this card and still run stable. I had a 6600gt card before and i thought that this would be a great improvement, but the numbers i,m seeing in bencemarks are quite simalar with 6600 card. Maybe i wasted my money by buying this. ANY HELP HERE?

there is no "safe" overclock. it's really luck of the draw on how high it will go.

The 6800XT should be a bit slower than a 6600GT. the 6800NU (12p/5v) is a closer challenge to the 6600GT.

i bought it for my son as a christmas giift, and found out that he has a ssf case and card would be to large for it. I then decuded to keep it thinking it would be a big improvement over my 6600gt card. Bought it at newegg, i'll rma back to them and buy one last agp card running 16 pipes. Thought this card was running 16. Got to learn to not just look at the price lol. thanks

you didn't say if you had AGP or PCIe. if you have PCIe, look at the 6800GS. it has 12pipes, but the clock speeds are way higher than a 6800GT.

The AGP 6800GS should be arriving soon.
