if your gettin bad closters it time for a new hard drive. some times a format will clean it up but it's not worth it as you will just keep having to reformat as your going to get more and more the drive is dieing thats it in a nut shell sorry /forum/smile.gif

"a" bad cluster doesnt necessary mean a new
hard drive....sometimes out of the box you
get a new hard drive with bad spots...
take a benchmark and if the problem gets
worse with time,,,then its time for a new
drive

If the hard drive is under warranty there is NO REASON to keep a drive that has bad sectors! EXCHANGE IT. I would NEVER accept a new drive that has bad sectors on it!

I hate to tell ya this but I have an older Samsung 1.27 gig hard drive that kept developing bad sectors... It quit on me altogether a few days ago... One loud click and down she goes (a head crash I assume.) As well, I think Samsung's warranties are only around 2 years, so its too late for my drive. Good luck with yours...

not everyone is going to do scandisk/thorough
with a "new" hard drive especially with the
new larger size drives.....
ALL the hard drive manufactors have something
called the "flaw factor" which means that
.1% to .2% (if memory serves) of the drive
can have errors at the factory...if it meets
this parameter then its out the door as new

its not like the old days when floppies
and hard drives had the words...........
..."CERTIFIED ERROR FREE".........
