Ok heres the low down.....I have an HP pavilion a220n, nforce 2 chipset, the original harddrive was removed but i put in another one reformated and installed xp pro along with nvidias universal nforce drivers, audio works, onboard video works, lan does not work at 100mbs only at 10 and is incredibly slow. any clues to why? or what i can do to fix this?

i just installed an ethernet card, its a netgear FA311 but the computer does not see it at all, device manager does not show any new changes. no LEDs turn on when a cable is pluged in. the network is good, i was using it in another machine. help...

so this is a totally clean install? why didn't you use the HP restore like you are supposed to?

sounds like you might have to run the winsock fix.
learn to look at the "best of" threads, please. That's why they are there.
