If the cmos has been cleared using the onboard jumper, and the system is accidently turned on, will it blow the cmos chip? I have no video whatsoever at this point. I disabled the on board video and tried a video card, swapped out mem and case(pwr sup) and still can't get video or anything. Any help?

believing that the video card, monitor,
power supply are all ok..
you have to test your processor and ram
in another machine..
if they test ok double check all the
connectors
if they test ok you probably have a bad
mobo..

sorry to answer your original question
clearing the cmos and then booting the
machine will not blow the chip...what
youve done is to restore defaults
Have to ask how old the mobo is and if you've ever replaced the CMOS battery? You might have a bad battery.
Might also be a bad BIOS chip that you're having a problem with.

The cmos chip will not blow up... just put the jumper on the CLEAR CMOS position, wait a minute and then change it to were it was.
