Posted under an old thread and copied to here:
I just bought a new computer with WindowsXP Home Media Center 2005 OS. My old computer OS is WindowsXP Home. Along with the new computer I purchased PC Relocator Ultra Control - it came with a USB Data Transfer Cable.
Has anyone transferred from XP Home to XP Home Media Center 2005? Problems? Quirks? Cursing, throwing things, feelings of impending doom?
I'm wondering if the PC Relocator is still a good choice.... good - as in easy to use and reliable. The most recent mention I can find of it here on SysOpt was from 2004.
My old PC has a 80 GB HD with about 40 GB used total. The box says transfer time using a USB cable is 20-30 minutes per GB. I'm not sure how much of my 40 GB used I'll have to actually transfer. Does anyone know if PC Relocator will let you transfer in increments to avoid a 20 hr transfer (that can't be right!) ?
Haven't opened the software box yet because I'm not sure I'm keeping the new computer. Feel free to throw in your 2 cents worth on the new computer (HP Pavillion a1250n). I'll be hopping around these forums with lots of questions.
Thanks in advance -
