Make sure that you have the cable to and from the floppy drive/motherboard connected in the proper direction.

When the system Bios goes thru it's POST, this message is generated if the Bios fails to communicate with the floppy drive controller.

It could be a bad floppy drive, a loose or damaged cable, the controller itself may have failed.

The most likely cause is what Susan mentioned.

Here's a few questions -
has the system EVER worked?
have you tried an F8 boot and reset the CMOS to default settings?
did you recently flash/upgrade your BIOS?
- you could have someone burn a bootable CD for you and replace the old BIOS and try again. - hope you saved it.

At the floppy drive, the ribbon cable's red feed typically goes closest to the power cable. - any bent pins? the mobo manual should indicate how the cable should go on the board. Have you tried a different power lead off the power supply? - have you tried a different drive? - are you running two floppy drives - go down to one.

As Susan werote, it may be the cable to the floppy. If you've ever worked "under the hood" of your machine, the floppy cable is the simplest thing to inadvertetly disconnect. I konw, having done so several times! /forum/wink.gif
