Gene, check to see if Outlook Express is your default email program in Internet Options/Programs.

Gene,
Just a thought accured to me with your last post. You mention that it works in NTWS but not in Win98...By chance are you using the same directory for IE5/OE5 ? It might be that win98 has lost it's registery information for OE5 (I personally have found that when I run dual boot systems to have full installs (nothing shared) OS wise) meaning that on C: I would have Win98 AND any Microsoft software that I use and then on D: I would have NT AND any microsoft software that I plan on using with NT. I have never run into a problem doing this /forum/biggrin.gif
You might try reinstalling OE5 while running Win98 on the C:

right on Mntsnow. you were right. I uninstalled outlook in 98 and than when into ntws and it wouldn't work. so I installed to ntws and than installed to 98 and they both work now just fine. I guess ntws over took 98. thanks for the help. and in return give yourself a big old cookie.lol and if it means anything. you were the only one who came close to the problem and fixed it. also I put in a plug for you over at hostclub where I belong to. thanks again. gene
