I have not watched a dvd movie on my pc for a while and today I went to watch and the program foze. I am using a Creative 6x drive with the creative decoder card. I am also using there software. When I bring up the program it will load and say that is knows the dvd is in the drive, but when I press play...freeze. To shut it down I have to use ctrl+alt+del. I really want to play my movies. I also tried to load another dvd player (one that came on the Matrix dvd, its like pc-dvd friendly or something) and it froze and crashed during install. Every thing else on my pc works fine.

Ok I figured out the problem was conflicting IRQ's. I have three video cards and the decoder card in my PCI slots. Is there I way I can rearrange those cards so the decoder card does not confict with one of the cards. If so are there preporation steps before rearranging the PCI cards. If the only way I can fix this is to take out one of my video cards then I will be disapointed in my computer.

Why the need for 3 video cards? Ain't one 'enuff'? /forum/wink.gif
I'd eliminate the offending video cards - should you need to put the video signal out to multiple monitors, I'd send the signal to a ScanDo (communications specialties) and then go to an automatrix path panel then out to as many TV sets as your little heart desires - only need one regular video card to do that and the TV's will display whatever is on your PC screen at 800*680 resolution. That's about a $7,000 solution, but it would fix your IRQ problem.

well you guys are way off. I suppose he has 3 video cards for these reason.
1) He has a primary video card that does the 2d and possibly 3d stuff like a TNT
2) He has video card #2 for 3d only like a vodoo 1 or 2
3) he has the creative dxr2 or dxr3 card for the DVD drive.
So really you need all 3 and that would cause a conflict in your IRQ settings.

I fixed it, I found a utility on my MB driiver CD that helped me assing different IRQ's. About the three monitors, try it some time, you will be addicted. I multytask like crazy and it is the only way I can do my work now. It is great when you have to referance between two things and stuff like that.
