Even tho HDD"s run hot, I dont believe in a HDD bay cooler for anything less than a server. daveleau 11-02-1999, 01:10 AM Auraedge- Could you expand on that? You are the first I have heard say that in my limited time here. I have a 7200 RPM HD sandwiched between a 5400 RPM and a floppy and it gets dang hot! i plan on getting a cooler b/c I am a bit worried about how hot it does get. Thanks-Dave NavyDood_ F/A18_Mech 11-02-1999, 01:27 AM How good of cooling do you have in your case? Is the hard drive alone in the open? I have a 3 1/2" fan blowing directly on the bottom of mine. And the 4" Fan pulling cool air in across it also. I get about a 6-8 ^c drop in temp with this setup. Do I really need it? Dunno. But I added it anyhow. It makes me feel more secure and all warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing that it is running cooler. Whoa... I got sentimental there. Sorry. When it comes to cooling other components it is like preventative measures. For example, when you add an aftermarket transmission cooler on your truck, it will prolong the life of the transmission, it is not neccessary, but a good idea. Stan 11-02-1999, 03:34 AM Hi If you want extend the life of your HD, use a HD cooler ! Anway, I would always recommend the use of a cooler for HD, specially for 7200rpm HD. These are running quite hot ! Stan socalgal 11-02-1999, 07:51 AM Stan A little while ago you posted a link to an HDD cooler. I went to order it, and somehow I've lost the link to it... Would you mind posting that link again, please? Thanks! Stan 11-02-1999, 09:04 AM Hi www.3dcool.com (http://www.3dcool.com) I bought 2 of these: http://www.3dcool.com/triplefanharddrivecooler.shtml Enjoy Stan SysOpt.com
