Having a 6.X boot disk will probably get you into bigger trouble. A lot is different between 6.X and DOS 7 and 98. The BIOS update and Dos 6.X are 2 different things. Can you give us the following;
1. Get us your system specs. The more info the better.
2. What are you loading in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files?
3. Does Windows boot up?

what I want to do is flash my bios for my board which I have done a couple of times.The thing about it is each time I flashed my board I would get a out of memory error and each time i solved the problem.I think that i would boot into dos using f8 and choose dos safe mode but this time all I got was the same out of memory error.the system is working fine but I always like to have the newest updates.Mb is a (ep-58mvp3c-m.The epox site said if i read it right to use the dos drivers.

Have you tried formatting a floppy using the "copy system files" option and then booting with that in your floppy drive?
You could also put the flash.exe and the new bios file on it so you could do it all from the one floppy.

Is this an Award Bios utility?
If it is, make sure you're following the pre-flashing instructions on disabling the various CPU cache settings. If no such instructions are advised, at least disable the "video bios cachable" in CMOS Chipset Features Setup.
Save the changes and exit.
Reboot the system with the Bios diskette. Be sure to hit Ctrl+F5 when you see "Windows Starting". -This prevents Drvspace.bin from loading. Freeing 108K of memory.
Flash the BIOS and reboot.
...You know the rest. Don't forget to enable the whatever CPU and Video settings that was disabled.

make a widows boot disk then delete every thing off of it ( BUT ) command.com, drvspace.bin, io.sys, and msdos.sys, then copy you flash program and new bios file to the floppy and boot from it should have no problem with out of memery errors at all with that boot disk that is what i use every time i flash any bios and have never had a problem good luck /forum/smile.gif
