Do you know if your memory and cpu are seated properly in their sockets? Try disconnecting everything except for the cpu, video and the memory then turn it on and see what happens. If you get a screen then start installing each of the componets one at a time to make sure they are working properly. I hope this works.

If you are using a PPGA to Slot 1 converter be sure that it is fully connected to the slot. As well as the memory... press it until it can't go no further.

Check that the monitor is connected to the video card... or that the video card isn't disabled. Also recheck all connectors:

IDE cables pin 1 on pin 1; power on mobo, HD, floppy, etc.; video enabled, etc.

Some thing must be loose in there. /forum/smile.gif

I know you might not want to think about this, but it is possible for something to be bad, mb, cpu, memory, etc. If you have another system or know of someone who has some extra parts, you might want to try switching something out. Just a thought. C.C.

I had a similar problem. First, do this exactly if you already haven't. Get a phonebook. Remove the motherboard from the case. Put the board on the book. Hook up the memory chips, video card, CPU and the power supply(the monitor too of course). Oh, and flip the switch, heh. Make sure the board is close enough to the case so you can connect the power supply connector. If this DOES work you may be grounding out something in the case or something just isn't sitting right in there. My current video card was kinda snippety in my old board. In the beginning, I needed to reseat the thing several times before it would work. If this doesn't work then something is bad or incompatible. I had some 72 pin chips I wanted to put in my new board which work fine on my old one. They gave me the same dead monitor/etc you get. I bought some PC100 Dimms and everything is fine. So, it COULD be your chips but you aren't using 72 pin like I was trying to use.

If anything else fails you can try a diferent angle. Get a PPGA to slot 1 converter and try using it. Remeber to erase your BIOS so you can get inside it and enable slot 1 instead of socket370.

Doesn't a system black out like that if you have a drive cable on upside down? I know most of them now have the little notch so you can't put it in wrong now, but make sure the red wire on the cable goes into pin one. Thats probably not it though. It sounds a little more whacked out than that.

I think I have the answer, I've just put together the same setup and probably the same motherboard. The problem in my case was the the fan for the celeron was connected to the wrong pins. Even though the book says it goes to fan1 connect the fan to fan2. This fixed the problem on nothing showing up on my screen. I have no idea why this would make a difference but it works, and I even tried to put it back on fan1 and nothing showed up on the screen.

only have one fan connector, the board has both slot 1 and socket 370..i have celeron directly in the 370socket and the jumper selected for the socket 370...funny thing...the kyboard num lock/caps lock and scroll lock lights are all flickering very fast...when ya hit keyboard..can barely see em...if ya hit 3 keys at ocne they all lite??. i know ive checked all the jumpers too many times to count..have unplugged all drives and board headers cept for video and mouse/com ...seems to be right except no video out...have plugged it into 2 diffrent monitors
bout to toss this piece of **** :sigh::

Some mobos with built in video have a jumper that can either be set to use the on-board video, or disable it to use a daughter card in a ISA or PCI slot for video. Something else to check.
