Hi there,
I have to get holf of some information.
First, I put a 6.8 Maxtor ( supporting udma33) into a system with a mobo Intel VX, ami-bios 15.7.95. It detects the hd to use pio mode 4. But there's a mode 5. What does that mean ?
Second, there's an existing AHA1542C scsi-controller with a Seagate St562 2GB connected. Nero estimates the transfer rate
1000 Kb/s, but my Maxtor-Ide gets 10MB/s.
Is this normal ?
Thanx a lot. Henrik

PIO Mode5? I don't know, haven't heard of it. Maybe someone else here does.

UDMA33 drives should be set to DMA mode2(Ultra) in the Bios if possible. In ControlPanel/System/DeviceManager, under the drive's properties settings, select it to use DMA.

Check the SCSI drive's transfer rate with couple other hard drive benchmarks, to see if they all report the same rate.

Check Seagate's site for the specifications on the drive's transfer rate, to see what it should be.

Check the SCSI card's Bios settings under the drive's ID, to see if the proper maximum transfer value is set correctly.

i'll try out your suggestions, when i'm at home. But it's not possible to set up dma mode 2( board not supporting Udma, only ATA/16 )
Thanks for your ideas
Henrik
