About four weeks ago I was in AOL and my system locked up, so shut it down and rebooted, and when it came back up it would only boot to safe mode. I tried to fix it and reload over the top of the OS, but it would not accept it. I tried other things to get it back into normal mode, but I had to save everything I wanted to keep to a disk, and format to start from scratch.
For three week now I can only get to loading the setup disk to A: drive and no farther. In my BIOS the cd is recognized, but at the A:> and I check for a CD, as far as my system goes theere isn't one on board.
The system bootdisk that came with my system has somehow gotten corrupted. I have gone BOOTDISK.com and tried their disks, and no dice. I have also tried several others, but same end. I have also fdisked, formated, and made the partition active.
I have also tried using the Win98 setup disk, and the system stops after the scandisk. It refuses to see a CD drive, so it will not load the needed drivers. You know the error message!
Anyone have any suggestions?PLEASE!!!:-)

is the CDrom drive recognized in the BIOS? if it is not, it may be unplugged. or the IDE connecter may be disconnected.

if it is being recognized in the BIOS, try going to the web page of the manufacturer of the CDROM drive and download the DOS drivers.

if your partition is active and it is formatted, yo ushoudl be able to boot to C: and then install the DOS drivers. if that doesnt work, i dont know whatwill
hope that helops

You need to check if your autoexec, and your config.sys files carry the CD info, and that they match

and if necessary download the drivers for your CD and install them
