I just finished bulding a new pc with the abit bp6 and dual 366 celerons with a 4 gig
hd. I have the following problems:

1- on boot I get a the following message: cpu is unworkable or has changed. please recheck cpu soft menu. I don't know why I would be getting this message because I never changed the softmenu settings. I press f1 and it finishes booting fine. Why this error?

2- Windows is not detecting my floppy drive or cdrom. cables are snug and in the correct place.

3- This could be the source of #2. I am using a hd from a different system. I can't reformat because I don't have the use of a boot disk nor a modem. What can I do?
Please help!

details, details, details my man....
what kind of os are you running? win9x does not support dual processors...if you need bootodisk however go to http://www.bootdisk.com

hope this helps

I have win98 wich was installed when the hd was on a diff. system. I do realize that 98 does not support dual processors

Keep in mind I have no way of imputing data into the system becuase it is not recognizing the fd and cdrom.

okay...
can you get to your bios and bypass the cdrom and the a: drive? if windows is all set to go on the hd you have in the problem computer? you might want to also check the cpu settings as well. if all is in order and it still does not want to work, you might have to start afresh and cannibalize other computers to determine if the floppy and/or cd rom is bad. i personally would start afresh because even though it is a time-consuming hassle, once it is done and its working, you know it still works the next day.

edit~
another thing is that windows might be detecting the other processor and then has a problem with two processors in the system and only one it can use. what happens if you remove one of the processors and boot up?
