Anyone who has these problems or read my post of 10-19 might like to know they're not alone. Compaq will f*** their bigger customers just like you! Silicon.com has released a story on what is happening to some of it's larger customers. .http://www.silicon.com/public/door?REQUNIQ=940921472&6004REQEVENT=&REQINT1=33573&REQSTR1=newsnow
If you have had problems w/ a Presario 5*00 series computer you might want to visit the Compaq user forum & see how common some of these problems are. Then drop them a note & let them know how you feel about their customer support policies. Or send me an e-mail & I will present them w/ a nice little package from all of us! CL
I Returned three Compaqs in three months and finally bought a HP. On one of the machines I had to reformat and reinstall programs about 4 times. Compaqs Tech support flat out lied. They were supposed to overnight some parts and when I called to follow up NO ONE knew anything about it. Second or third unit, I was having trouble with their modem. Very slow speed. My son brought his computer over, hooked up to my phone line and connected at about 48. Both of us were using the same ISP. I was connecting at about 22 or 24 if I was lucky. Compaqs answer was that they couldn't do anything about it because the modem was working. The Tech support guy said he would kick this problem up to his supervisor and they would send me a letter within two weeks. Gave them 4 days to fix it and told them if it was not corrected by then I would return the unit. Never heard from them and I did return the computer. /forum/frown.gif RJ
Always have heard bad things about Compaq's. I've got an HP and a smaller system that I built myself. Been happy with both. I've been really surprised with the HP. Really stable and easy to work with. Although my next major system will be self built. Whole lot cheaper...and more fun, if you can call it that. Later, C.C.
