I've got an old (1996)external SCSI enclosure that had two full height drives in it that I'm trying to use to house a couple of 18G 15K drives.. this box was made to house two full height or 4 1/2 height drives, but it has about 8 power leads coming out of the power supply, plus a bunch of two-wire leads (and other 4-wire leads as well) that I'm not familiar with (?). Think there's any hope that I could figure out what I'm doing with this and get two drives working in this. My previous experience with external SCSI has been with a Sun 611 case holding a single 18G drive and that was just "plug & play". thanks! Grady

You'll have to replace the SCSI wiring with 68-wire "LVD" type for modern drives. The extra wires possibly are for the SCSI ID switches in the back of the case. These go onto the ID jumpers of the drives (in case you're using the 68-pin connector drives for fixed in-case mounting) or the ID jumpers of the drive bays (in case you're using 80-pin SCA type drives with front-access drive bays).

It already has 68 pin internal cabling. Are you saying that it might be 68 pin and not be LVD?

Yes it might. LVD is twisted-pair, SE cabling is straight. This is clearly visible in case-internal ribbon cabling.
