I have the Abit BE6 motherboard that has the built on HPT UDMA66 Controller. The BIOS version of the controller is v1.07. Abit has a new update for the controller that is v1.10. When I try to update the BIOS I get an error that says unknown device. Is the BIOS upgrade only for the HotRod card controller (not built on motherboard)?

Yes, the BIOS upgrade you are looking for is the motherboard BIOS that has the onboard controller's BIOS written into it as well. The BIOS that your trying to install is looking for a card in one of the expansion slots. An upgrade could still help you if you upgrade the Mobo BIOS but unless your having problems, don't fix what aint broken.
