C.C. 10-25-1999, 03:19 PM Don't know that much about Compaq's, but when you first restart you computer, hit either delete, escape, or possibly f1 or f2. One of these should get you into the bios. From there just follow the directions. Becareful and don't save anything your not sure about. Hope this helps. C.C. JW310 10-25-1999, 03:41 PM From my experience with a Compaq computer, the key to press was F10. I'm not sure if it was this way with the earlier Compaqs, but my 1996-vintage Compaq required pressing F10 when it got a the point of a blinking cursor in the top right of the screen. Hope this helps you! JW Pantion 10-25-1999, 04:20 PM Hmm... I don't know if this will help you, but try it anyway. Read the manual /forum/smile.gif ... or try compaq's website. Axel 10-26-1999, 10:13 AM Locate the "pause" key on your keyboard. As the system boots up, on one of the screens, you will find information about your BIOS, and most likely, one of the boot screens will tell you what to push to get into set-up. Next question - is the floppy not working at all, or are you trying to boot off it and can't get the boot floppy to work? Might be a damaged floppy drive - $25 new at most stores., definitely not worth fighting. Regarding Pantion's RTFM comment - not all used systems come with the manual - get a life. SysOpt.com
