I recently ordered a new system but apparently some of the products are in backorder.. They suggested me to swap:
Ordered <-> Swap
asus 7800GTX<->XFX 7800GTX extreme
TwinMOS 2x1GB (dual) <-> 2x1GB modules (sold separately, PQI)
Zalman 7700AlCu <-> 7700Cu.
The asus has a 3y warranty vs a 2y from XFX.. Don't know the difference in performance tho'..
Also, I don't know what to do about that Memory.. Is it really important to buy that "dual channel" package or will seperate modules do? I'd allso like to overclock my pc in a moderate way, what specs do these RAM-thingies need? The TwinMOS were 2-2-2-5 and PC 3200..
Thanks a lot!

I'd have a problem with the XFX card for sure. If they don't have the Asus I'd accept an EVGA or a BFG for replacement, actually one of those would have been my first choice.
I have heard terrible things about XFX. We have a member here that had one die on him, maybe he'll rant on them if he see this.
One other thing that "might" concern me is the ram. It would most likely run in dual channel fine though. The dual kits are tested together but that is the only difference.

Thx for the quick response! Glad I've have posted this! So no XFX! :) Maybe I'll ask how long the shipment will take, 'cause my mobo is allso ASUS(A8N-SLI), perhapse not so bad to go with an ASUS GPU then..
I'm very n00b about RAM-things, but I presumed that 2 seperate modules wouldn't give a problem.. There are other parameters like latency, PC-3200/2700/... @400MhZ, 500MhZ.. :-/ But I'll try to find some more info on this in the Data-department of this forum..

I wouldn't diss XFX at all. I've got an XFX GeForce 6800GT and it OC's well over Ultra specs without artifacts.

Also, as for your memory, you'll want two sticks that are identical (ie, DDR400 and DDR400, 1024MB and 1024MB) so that you can run in dual channel. Dual channel gives about a 14% performance increase. But I'd make sure you get the 2-2-2-5 RAM timings, don't settle for any higher. You'll get faster gaming performance with the faster timings. But, see if you can exchange that RAM for something other than PQI. Even though I've had good experience with PQI, I'd recommend something like Corsair, Geil, Mushkin, Kingston, OCZ, ect. over the PQI.

Fair enough, but it's much more expensive then the TwinMOS I had in mind.. :?
I asked my supplier to give me his prices on 2-2-2-5 Ram from other A-brands.. See how that 'll work out.. :)

My friend had an XFX 6800 GT and it worked ok for a couple of weeks, but then it decided to stop working...
