Carl,

I personally bet you have a CPU that is causing your problems. with all the problems that you lately have had I will bet you will end up needing to do a new format and full reinstall of the OS. Do you have another CPU you can use? (unfortuanty the Cyrix chip is not a very stable/good chip. Although some people have had decent luck with them. If your motherboard will support a AMD or Intel chip I would suggest that you pick one up.(you will be much happier in the long run). also have you run a "ram test" ? there is a couple of dos based ram checkers that you can download and run to rule out bad memory as well.

Keep us informed of what you have tried and what ends up being your solution /forum/smile.gif

i would definitely have to go with that CRIX processor as being part of the problem. they are not very forgiving at all when it comes to heat issues and from my experience with them once you over heat one it's pretty much game over. best of luck though, definitely let us know what you come up with.

I have seen a number of questions on this board about this topic but none fixed my problem.

Error accessing the system registry. Restore, reboot, and same problem. I have formated drive and reinstalled Win95b after trying MicroSoft's recommended fixes. After a week or so I got the same error again.

No new software or hardware had been installed for at least one month before this error started.

Now my questions are... Could the cause be a piece of hardware failing? It is a Cyrix 150+ CPU (maybe a heat problem?)

The only software is Win95b(IE and mail from windows install) and Quicken99.

Have you tried running scandisk to search for bad sectors? Can you boot to "safe mode"?

If you really must reformat and re-install Win9x again, be sure to do a Low Level format. Your BIOS should have a utility for doing that.
