Hello everyone, long time no see.

I have a 128mb usb stick (flash drive?) that believes it only has 1mb of memory. Can anyone suggest a remedy? I don't know much abotu the drive, a friend gave it to me. I have another one that works just fine. Not sure of the make, I think it's a coporate own-brand one (it says www.message-pad.com on it, which is a UK call centre company).

Sorry if this topic has been discussed, I wasn't really sure what to search for...

Thanks!

Sorry, have to ask-> When you view it in Windows Explorer do you see 127 megs of files on it?

no it says 1mb as total space.

I've found out it's a Samsung Mighty Drive.

Do i need some software? I'm using win xp and win 2000 at work.

run diskmgmt.msc or rightclick my computer and click manage. look at the drive in there. you can repartition/format from there.

flash drives do drive, so it might be a bad drive.

thanks for the info.

I've just tried the drive on a friend's computer, and it worked fine... just seems to be my XP machine at home... very odd. I'll give that 'manage' thing a try and report back.

Once again, thanks.

It may be that your system board is not configured correctly for USB drives, or it may not have the latest BIOS installed that properly supports them.

i don't think that's the problem.. i think win xp was just having a bit of a spaz. It all seems ok now....

Here is a nice easy to use utility to format almost any USB jump drive.
