Hi i have a p166mmx on a VX Pro Motherboard, it has 2 simms of 8mb totalling 16 mb.
I removed these simms and installed 1 64 Mb dimm, and the voltage selector for the memory is in 3.3V.
When i power up the pc, it shows only 16Mb
I tried with all the possible combinations of the memory settings in bios with no results. What i'm doing wrong??
p.s.: this dimm module works fine in another computer (pii 350, i440bx)

sounds like the max dimm slot memory(per slot) is 16mb... have you tried all the slots or a 32mb dimm to see if that is the case?

Yes, i tried using the 2 dimm memory banks that the motherboard has using 2 64 mb dimm
but the system now shows only 32mb ram total.
The Mainboard says. "provides two 168-pin DIMM to support sdram/edo and dram/page mode RAM, support table free configuration so that dimm and simm can be installed in any combinatios up to 384 mb, except that simm 1, 2 and dimm 2 can not be installed at the same time"

I installed only this dimms (not installed combinatios with simms), the motherboard says nothing about max. memory per bank.

The motherboard says nothin about max. ram per slot. but i tried installing a 32mb dimm and it works fine.
when i install 2 64 mb dimms the pc shows only 32 mb total. (1/4 of the 128 ram = 64 + 64)
when i install 1 64 mb dimm the pc shows only 16 mb total (1/4 of the 64 ram installed)

:-(((, don't know what to do

if you do a search for vxpro in the motherboard forum there is a discussion on your problem. Apparently your M'B will only accept certain 64MB DIMMs - the far less common type.
