Doesn't look to bad (apart from the rock)

I remember at first it was suppose to be about some disease going around and zombyfying then all which would have just been carp (and a resident evil copy)

It looks awful... sumink like 50% of the film is going to be shot from fist person perspectives with CGI rendering... more like watching the game than a movie

High hopes i have not

That could be pretty bad....

But I'll watch it anyway see if it scares me....

But the plus side of it being in first person would be that you don't have to see the rock :p

Might have to rent it now that I know that. Was wondering why the chain saw part looked a tad odd.

jakk, i think you're reading into something wrong.
everywhere i've looked it said that the first person part will be about a 5 minute action sequence, approx 50% of that sequence being cgi rendered.

also, i really don't think the rock is all that bad.
and even if he was, i can't help but have respect for him because he was offered the lead role of ripper but turned it down because he didnt want this to become another "the rock" movie.

Dunno, i could be wrong like. Still, i did see the trailer and nearly all of that was the first person stuff, and to be honest it looked plain strange not to mention CGI laden (not that thats a bad thing - as long as its done right, something very few moviesactually pull off it must be said).

In addition to which the "live action" stuff in the trailer looked pretty woeful.

As with all game-movie adaptions im expecting it to sink like a lead baloon rather than revolutionise modern cinema

Yup seems quite cheesy. Apart from me not even liking Doom or other games like that, the idea of doing 1st person with CGI rendering is as you say, going to be like watching someone play the game... Might as well.

ok, i'll give you that, but i mean, it's doom for cryin out loud, i think you're playing yourself if you go in expecting anything great besides the killin.

i really worried about it, i want it to be good sooooo badly, but i'm afraid it'll stink.
doom has a good enough rep. to where if they just shot 2 hours of things dying, it'd be great, i'm just afraid that they'll tarnish it with all this plot and acting non-sense. :r

I like "The Rock" not the greatest actor but still manages to be quite entertaining IMO. I do not share that same opinion about the movie however. To me, it looks absolutly HORRIBLE. I was at the theatre last Saturday and Doom was one of the previews they showed, I heard atleast 3 different comments about how it looked like you're watching a video game, no doubt they were refferring to the first person shots that were obviously CGI, and not very good either. I won't be watching it, nor waiting for it to come out on video. If by chance I see it on HBO or something sometime next year as i'm browsing through the channels, I may watch it.

BTW, the movie I went to go see, "Two for the Money" good flick. It stars Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.

I hope they don't show most of the movie in first person, we're gonna have a blair witch project all over again with people vomitting in the theatres.

i just read a review/preview to the film on a german website

the fp view is only a small part from the film, couple of minutes so thats good

but the rest . . . oh well, they said it isnt really scary, just action which isnt that interesting and the story . . . well its an action film there is no real story

ill keep my 5 euros for another film

I'm hoping thats its gonna be good, I quite like The Rock, but I'm pretty sure it'll be just another crappy game-movie attempt that will cheapen the whole doom franchise (if you can call it that).
Oh well.
