Yup quit the cussin' and people will be falling over themselves to help you.
This is a family board and I think we all try to uphold that principle. Not because we're all church ministers but because the purpose of this site is the communication of information, and swearing does not further the understanding of your problem, except perhaps to let us know how annoyed you are with your PC (we've all been there)

PS !!&&###!! communicates that just as well, and leaves more to the imagination. Even f*** is preferable. Here endeth the lesson /forum/wink.gif

Since you dont give very clear details of what the problem is with the card I will start off with some very general idea's for you.

1. Make sure you have the newest drivers.
2. Double check your settings on the card! (this is not a plug and play card!) then when you are sure you know the settings make sure that WINDOWS is ussing the same settings.
3. check with www.adaptec.com (http://www.adaptec.com) for other troubleshooting suggestions.

Good luck

thanx Mntsnow!
I've tried it all before.
I'm gonna get back to this board in a couple of days, with a specific system report. Oner of tha problems is, that i'm afraid i don't have the prober manual for the scsicontroller, so if anyone happen to be in possesion of the manual for an adaptac 1542 isa-scsi-controllercard, i'd be happy if you would help me out. Please let me know if you can.

Another thing you might want to look into is if that scsi controller is supported in win98. I had an old one a few months ago and it was supported in 95 but not 98! Go figure, I never believed the os's were that much different. Sure enough when I installed 95 with the driver it worked fine.

thanx cobrian! You're really pulling up my spirit.... ;-)
Now i don't quite remember wether i've got the win 98 drivers or if it just was for '95! At some point of time i'll get into that. My maschine is taken down right now, qúite depressing, but i don't have the time for it right now. Thanx anyway...

Dear Mac !
I myself used an Aha1542F-Controller under win98 together with two scsi-harddrives and a
CD-burner (?!, correct word?) and it worked slow but fine.
Perhaps it is another release of Win98?

yours, Henrik
