What I have are 2 Seagate drives, a 20 gig and a 13 gig, one has Win98SE and the other is just formatted.
Have tried Ghost and Data Lifegaurd to transfer to the formatted drive, both with no luck.
This latest attempt with Lifegaurd when I slave the drive everything looks intact. When the transfer finished there were 12 files it could not open. Three I see as probavly the problem.

D:\MSDOS.SYS with Failed to open destination file
D:\DRVSPACE.BIN with same mesg.
C:\WINDOWS\WIN386.SWP

The rest were all for AVG files.

Is there a way to restore these? Right now the drive opens Windows and AVG then stops at a C: prompt before finishing loading. The last time when I tried Ghost the drive wouldn't even boot.

is the primary drive in good working order, or was it having problems?

did you run a scandisk before you tried copying the drive?

you can try other tools like clonemaxx off the UBCD, but they take a long time.

Yes the source drive is fine, did scandisk it first and deleted all the useless junk like emails, cookies, unsued proggies so it's down to about 6.5 gigs data.
Which is why I want to transfer it to a smaller drive then load W2K on it. Then I can still use it for all the old stuff that uses Win98 like Battleship and a digital Polaroid camera that only has Win98 drivers.

With nothin better to do on a Fri, night I've kept playing with this and have reinstalled Windows over the top of this drive.
It now boots and runs but I've found that the Linksys nic wont work and Internet Connection Wizard will not load. Have also run scandisk twice and found a lot of changes or updated files.
All I know is that there has got to be a better way than the way I'm doing this!
