I would really appreciate any help with this.......so:

I have both a copy of NT 4 and Win 95, which I would like to intall on the same computer (Win 95 for games and NT for graphics work). Well, to install both and have a dual boot i read somewhere that it's best to first install Win95, only problem is...I 've lost my little 3.5' startup disk. Now I have the original and legitimate copies of both but without a startup disk for Win 95. I have read that you can make a startup disk and then copy over the cdrom driver and change some small things in the autoexec.bat and config.sys on the new startup disk. But to no avail~!

Help please as I have a computer sitting in my room with no OS, a wiped HD, no Operating System and a very anxious user!!!!!!!!!

Thanking you in advance,
thommo

You can download a boot disk at www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com)

The computer you are on rght now if it is running W95 you can make a startup disk on it. Even after you get a startup disk you still need a copy of MSCDEX.EXE in your root directory before your CD drivers will install.

ok, so thatnks for the help so far.....

but I don't really have any idea as to what condition my HD is in. So after I booted up (using the disk form www.bootdisk.com) (http://www.bootdisk.com)) i can now access the A: and the CDrom drive, but after trying to create partitions in Fdisk, I reboot only to find that the c: (the hard drive) is "invalid media" or something like that. Now I thin that the problem is formatting the hard drive.

Please, once again, help a moron!!

thanks,
thommo

Gotta' do that format c: /s /forum/smile.gif

Then copy mscdex.exe to C:,
install your CD ROM drivers and you should
be able to install WIN95 without a problem and without the boot disk now.

okay....so I get into fdisk, but when I attempt to make the primary drive (on a 6.4 gig I wish to to make it 2) I get:
**WARNING**
Disk Boot Sector about to be Modified
"Y" to proceed.......

is this right?

help!

turn off your bios antivirus- it'll be labeled something like boot sector protection or words to that effect. Installing an OS is writing to the boot sector, so the bios' antivirus is doing its job...turn it back on after the OS is installed.
