Hey there -

Does the compression feature create any degradation in access speed for retrieving files from a compressed volume?

In other words, if I format with compression, and I go to open a file from that drive, or copy a file from the drive, or save a file to the drive - will the operation be slower than if compression is not enabled?

Thanks.

Mike

Also wondering if it's generally best to go with the defaults on all other options for NTFS drive formatting ....

compression/decompression always slows down performance. don't use it. just get a bigger hard drive.

use quick format, but other than that the defaults should be ok.
