i have a pcChips pentium mother board with a 200mmx processor. i recently purchased a usb scanner and keyboard but they will not work.yes the bios setting is on and i have updated the driver for the tx chipset from intel. win98 loads the standard usb drivers
but the devices do not work and are not recognized. i have e-mailed pcchips a few times but since this motherboard is a couple of years old they don't seem interested in supporting it as i have not received a reply
obviosly i will not buy any of their products again.
Have you looked on the BIOS manufacturer home page to see if you might need a BIOS update?
Award has several BIOS bugs which they have released updates for that corrected USB issues.

thank you axel but the bios is ami and since the mainboard is not u.s. manufactured they say go to pcchips for the bios update. it's sort of like a dog chasing it's tail.

i hear your pain lee keven...i too have a pc-chips mobo that is nothing but a pain in the ***. I have looked for a new bios( mine says its from 95) but i cannot find one and when I get to pcchip's page, its in poorly written english that says that I can get it but they dont have it. What a waste of time. I would advise, if you can, get another motherboard. I myself cannot do this as I have just bought the darn thing, but as soon as I can, that motherboard is out of there and a new and fully FUNCTIONAL board is in. I posted a thread about this in the tech support forum and someone who also has a pc-chips mobo said that although the bios says its old it really isnt. you may want to check it out.
also my board came with a set of drivers since it is one of those fully integrated boards. the standard 98 drivers did not work
so i installed the ones on the cd....is yours like this too?
