Current specs:

Intel D915PBL board(which died today)
p4 3.4ghz
1gig DDR2 533
WD Raptor 74gig SATA
Gigabyte 6600GT pci-e

I've been reading some reviews on the ASUS SLI board P5ND2-SLI and would like the option to do SLI in the future. But I have a few questions on compatibility...The ASUS SLI board runs SATA2, will my SATA drive run properly with it? Also the ASUS SLI runs DDR2 667 memory, will my memory run on this board or am I forced to buy new memory. Also gigabyte makes a SLI baord that seems to be getting decent(but not as good as ASUS) review. Would I be better off getting the gigabyte board since i have a gigabyte vid card?

No clue what things are backwards compatible now a days so figured you guys were the best place to ask :)

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you download the manual to the ASUS P5ND2-SLI mobo and read up on whether or not your current memory module(s) and videocard would have compatibility issues. Good luck!

Junun, Welcome to Sysopt
Might want to check at www.motherboards.org there should be some information there that you could use. Good Luck :t

The ASUS P5ND2-SLI motherboard will support your current memory and CPU without any problems. I would suggest that you re-evaluate your power needs and get a good power supply that is capable of supporting all of the needs of the system that you intend to complete. Using a power supply that is not capable of supporting all the power needs of your system will result in a failed systemboard and or failed component(s).

You did not state what brand of power supply was used on the systemboard that died. Could you elaborate on its brand and power rating? I just wanted to know if it is a name brand power supply or not and whether it had an adequate power rating to support the rest of the hardware you mentioned.
